Arena Hockey League (CAHL)
Mite-Squirt-PeeWee-Bantam
The CAHL is a competitive
travel program designed to build better hockey players
through structure and developmental practices. Players from
travel teams and strong house league players are invited to
tryout. Formed by Connecticut rink owners/operators, the
league is open to all youth hockey players, regardless of
their winter youth hockey program affiliation. Players
should try out in the rink closest to their homes. Winter
Garden Ice Arena, Darien Rink, Terry Conners (Stamford),
Wonderland of Ice (Bridgeport), The Rinks at Shelton and
Danbury Ice Arena are participating and will be forming
teams at the Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, and Bantam levels- one to
two teams per age group per rink. This Spring, players
will play at the age level they will play for the 2008-09
season based on USA Hockey age classifications below:
Mites
2000 birth years & younger
Squirts
1999 & 1998 birth years
PeeWees 1997
& 1996 birth years
Bantams
1995 & 1994 birth years
Tryouts will be held at the
Winter Garden week of March 17.
League play will run from April 4 – May 31, 2008 with a
State Playoffs & Championship to be played June 6 through
June 14. All Winter Garden CAHL teams will have a minimum
of 8 practices and will play 8 season games (one per
weekend) All games will be played against other
participating local arena teams in Darien, Stamford,
Shelton, Danbury & Bridgeport.

Playoffs & Championships
run June 6 – June 14, 2008. All playoffs and
championship games will be held at Darien, Shelton,
Wonderland or Danbury. Each of these rinks will be
hosting an age level. No games will be held in Winter
Garden after May 25.

Minimum 8 practices—to be
held between March 24-May 25. Please note that there
will be no practices for Winter Garden teams after May
25.
Fees:
Tryout fee $40 due with registration

GHL SPRING
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT GRADUATES, ATOMS, MITES,
SQUIRTS, PEE WEE/BANTAM
& GIRLS
Winter Garden’s goal is to help players
improve all aspects of their game by providing 1/2 hour of
practice/skill development followed by a full one hour
scrimmage for each of four age levels, Atoms, Mites,
Squirts. PeeWee/Bantams. A Girls only session (all ages) is also available.
Session day will remain the same for the entire spring
season, allowing every
player to better plan their Spring activities. No more
rotating days while you are trying to fit in baseball,
soccer, lacrosse and other Spring sports. Program is
designed for the house league players.
Improved format featuring 30 minutes of instruction followed
by a one hour scrimmage. No pressure. All Fun! Coaching by Winter Garden staff. Each group is limited
to 30 players.
Days & Time:
Atoms (6 yr. olds) — Tuesdays 5:00-6:30 PM
Mites (ages 7 & 8) — Fridays 5:00-6:30 PM
Squirts (ages 9 & 10) — Thursdays 5:00-6:30 PM
PeeWee/Bantam (ages 11-14) - Wednesdays 4:50-6:20 PM
Girls (all) — Monday 4:50-6:20 PM (WILL START ON
